If you’ve been following Cornerstone Dog Training for a while, you know that we, Jason and Lorelei Robbins have worked with hundreds of puppies and dogs over the years. But guess what? We just welcomed a new puppy into our family here in Kaysville, Utah! Introducing Sunny!

Sunny is a Golden Retriever from Sunnyside Goldens. We have worked with the owner, Larisa for many years and love what she has done for the breed. If you are looking for a breeder who knows their stuff, check her out here.
Even as professional trainers, bringing home a puppy is always an adventure—full of those sweet snuggles, playful zoomies, and yes, those midnight potty breaks. Our family knows firsthand what many of you are experiencing right now: the mix of excitement and exhaustion that comes with raising a new four-legged family member.
Why Training Starts on Day One
We, Jason and Lorelei, believe that puppy training is all about prevention. Those first few months make all the difference in shaping your dog’s lifelong behavior. Instead of waiting until problems like biting, jumping, or pulling get out of hand, they start building calmness, boundaries, and routines right away.
With any new pup, that means:
- Introducing Crate training so the crate feels safe and restful, and makes potty training is a breeze.
- Setting up a potty spot in the yard to keep things clean and consistent.
- Working on the commands to build basics to level up later.
- Practicing composure training so their puppy learns how to be calm around kids, visitors, and everyday Kaysville life.
Training in the Heart of Kaysville
One of the things we love about raising a puppy in Kaysville is the chance to practice skills in real-life settings. Whether it’s walking down Main Street, visiting the Wilderness park, or simply playing in our backyard, these everyday experiences are perfect opportunities for training.
Lorelei being from Kanosh and Jason from Springville, we know the rhythm of small-town life—kids riding bikes, neighbors stopping to chat, and weekend track meets at the park. All of these moments are opportunities for teaching a puppy how to stay calm, confident, and respectful in the middle of life’s distractions. We want to show you how, right here with puppy training in Kaysville.
Kids and Puppies
Juggling kids and puppies is no small feat—trust us, we know! With eight kids in the Robbins household and now a new puppy, life can feel a little like controlled chaos. One moment someone needs help with homework, another needs a ride to track meets, and right in the middle of it all the puppy decides it’s the perfect time to have an accident. That’s why structure and consistency are lifesavers. Puppy schedules need to be flexible but reliable. Get our recommendation for puppy schedules here.

Crate training, clear potty routines, and short training sessions sprinkled throughout the day make it possible to keep both kids and puppy on track. And the best part? The kids get to pitch in too, learning responsibility and creating a bond with their pup that will last for years. We love when families come in to train together here in Davis county. This ensures everyone is on the same page. No confusion between commands and expectations!
Venturing Outside of Kaysville
Sunny is getting older. She turned five months this summer. We can’t believe how fast time flies. Now, Sunny is able to level up her training. We have begun our Chaos-to-Calm course with her and she is thriving because of the work we put into puppy training in Kaysville. This summer, we were able to venture outside of davis county, and take her to Bryce Canyon! We had so many people take pictures of Sunny, and say “She is the best part of our day!”. It was the biggest compliment, and one we hope all of our clients get to experience. If you are past the puppy training stage (five months or older) hope isn’t lost.
