Episode 17: How to stop rushing the door and so much more!
The key to teaching your puppy not to rush the door is impulse control. Puppies don’t come with the ability to resist the impulses they feel. We have to teach this to them and there are a few commands that will help them learn to accept the invisible boundaries that you want to implement. This can be anything from the threshold of the front door, the boundary around their dog bed, door of the kennel, etc. Once you’ve taught your dog these boundaries, they can be great ways to have a calm dog that is part of the family, but not bouncing off the walls or jumping all over your guests.
